What is your fee?

I charge £30 for an initial meeting. My standard ongoing fee is £60 per 50 minute session (1 analytic hour). I also offer a certain number of appointments for a reduced fee if required.

How regularly do I need to attend?

Attending once per week at a minimum is recommended. More intensive analysis is possible, with a frequency of two meetings per week upwards.

How long will it take?

This depends very much on the individual and their motivations for entering therapy or analysis. The work can be open-ended and last as long as you would like it to. In practice, this can be anything from a few months to a number of years.

Will I have to lie down on a couch?

No - I work sitting upright and face-to-face.

What is the difference between psychotherapy and analysis?

Accepted Answer

Psychotherapy tends to work on specific problems, often over a shorter time frame than analysis. Analysis focuses with greater intensity on the unconscious, personality structure and transformation, and therefore is typically a longer process.

Question 6

Do I need to have lots of dreams to be suitable for analysis?

Accepted Answer

No, there is no absolute requirement to bring dreams. However, I do encourage this practice as dreams are powerful forms of unconscious communication.
